Location: Lincoln Square Park                  Address: 261 11th Street, Oakland, California 94607

AYSC uses Lincoln's gym to host our monthly general meetings. Lincoln Center has provided

us a comfortable space for our committee gatherings; therefore, we must give back to our community and thank them in return!

Adopt-a-Park is a great community service event where volunteers can express their gratitude toward Lincoln for their kindness to offer us a place to have our general meetings by picking up trash around Lincoln Park and keeping the park as a nice and clean environment for others who use the facility. Not only will volunteers learned the importance of taking care of our environment, but also develop leadership skills when working with others and getting the job finished efficiently.

Volunteers who participate in this event and help out will be handed an AAP raffle ticket afterward. The raffle will be drawn at the next general meeting and the winner of the raffle will be able to bring home a 24 Fl.oz. Hydro Flask bottle.

During the meeting, there will be some activities that involve interaction between members, including games, ice-breakers, and more. At the end of the meeting, there will be free food, snacks, and drinks provided.

** At every general meeting, two AYSC members will be chosen as "Volunteer of the Month" and each will receive an appreciation award. **

Date: 2nd Sunday                 Time: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Location: Oakland T4          Address: 1068 Webster Street, Oakland, California 94607

Littering is a huge problem in Downtown Oakland. Streets and sidewalks in the neighborhood are piled with garbages and debris. OCA-East Bay organized a "Pick-It-Up" clean up event on the second Sunday of every month, aiming to spread awareness of the devastating effects of littering and to take care of our community.

AYSC partners with OCA-East Bay to work together to improve the environment we all live in, bringing back the grassroots and the greens into our city.

** Volunteers who participated in the event will get a 20% discount at T4, drinks only. **

Professional Development Training

Date: Check "Event News Blog" for upcoming workshops.

Time: 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Location: CCUMC

Address: 321 8th Street, Oakland, California 94607

AYSC not only offers volunteering opportunities, but we also hold professional development and leadership training workshops once in a while, such as AAPA Workshop! The purpose of these workshops is to prepare our volunteers for any upcoming challenges, for example, presenting themselves during interviews or writing an essay to a college or university that they strive to be accepted. In these workshops, we aim to improve our communication skills, public speaking abilities, confidence in presenting ourselves, and persuasive techniques for every one of us to become better leaders.
